NNA - Future parliamentary bloc expressed surprise at Hezbollah's unilateral decision to wage the battle in Arsal outside the framework of the Lebanese State and its constitutional, military and security institutions.
Future Bloc's fresh words on Tuesday came in a statement in the wake of its periodic meeting at the Central House, chaired by Bloc head Fouad Siniora.
The bloc took up the latest developments of the ongoing battles in the eastern chain of Arsal outskirts against terrorist organizations.
The bloc warned of the danger posed by this decision, saying it surpasses the state and utterly discounts the Lebanese people's will.
Future said that Hezbollah's unilateral move reflects Iran's decision and its plot to exercise hegemony on the eastern border of Lebanon, in coordination with the Syrian regime.
The bloc reiterated its support for the Lebanese army, as the legitimate security tool which has the exclusive right to bear arms and use it to defend the country, its borders and the Lebanese people.
Therefore, the bloc declined to accord "national or political legitimacy" to the ongoing fighting waged by Hezbollah in the eastern chain, under any pretext.
The bloc called on the government to give instructions for the stationing of army forces in areas of withdrawal of militants, for the protection of the Lebanese eastern borders-- to enable the people of Arsal to return to their farms and lands.
Future also called on the government to ask the Security Council to approve the expansion of the powers of the United Nations forces in support of the Lebanese army to protect the eastern and northern borders of Lebanon, in accordance with the stipulations of UN Security Council resolution #1701. The bloc cited the successful experience in the South.
