GUATEMALA, May 2 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA)--The Guatemalan Workers'' Party (PGT) urged to denounce and face the imperialist aggression against the peoples of Venezuela and Syria during the celebrations on the International Workers'' Day.
The political organisation, created in 1949, also called on the working people to fight for peace and to organise massively in trade unions, without losing sight of the fact that they have a class, ethical and combative position to face capitalists and capitalism.
'We must fight patriarchal domination, exploitation and oppression. Zero tolerance to gender violence against women, girls, boys and men and women of sexual diversity,' noted the group in a statement.
It also encouraged to maintain a decisive fight against racism, which affects indigenous peoples and against the destructive exploitation of nature.
'Let us retake Marxism, our revolutionary theory, to move forward the revolution and to give creative continuity in the conditions and our reality, to the historic task of building socialism,' expressed the Guatemalan Communist organisation.
For its members, it is this way that 'we must recover those learning that the Great Socialist Revolution of October in Russia of 1917 bequeathed us.'
The PGT charged that 'in Guatemala, the strip down of lands, territories and natural assets from communities and indigenous peoples has been a consequence of the expansion of transnational capital in alliance with national capitals, in a condition of dependence.'
'The expansion of monocultures, such as oil palm and sugar cane, hydroelectric construction, and the increase in extractives are expressions of the capitalist transnationals' interference in the territories, mainly of the indigenous peoples,' he added.
