Prime Minister, Saad Hariri, contacted Saturday Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, who briefed him on the prevailing security situation in the country.
The call was a chance to arrange for a meeting at the Grand Seral upcoming Monday to discuss the Army's adopted measures to maintain security and stability, as well as pursuing and confronting terrorist organizations in various parts of the country.
In a statement by Premier Hariri's media office, it referred to an issued decision by the Cabinet during its last session requesting the Army leadership to conduct a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the circumstances of the death of a number of Syrian detainees who were arrested in the preemptive campaign against terrorist groups in some of the Syrian refugee camps in Arsal.
The statement also pointed out that in his speech at the Beirut Arab University graduation ceremony, the Prime Minister called on the Lebanese Army, and all legitimate security forces, to ensure safety and security of all residents in Lebanon and prosecute any person of any nationality belonging to terrorist organizations. In addition, it called on the Army not to tolerate any attempt to render refugee camps an environment of incubation of terrorism and extremism, while considering the displaced brethrens as partners in the fight against terrorism and the detection of terrorist organizations.
