Iggy Pop, New Order, Patti Smith jam for Tibet

Carnegie Hall is a seated venue, but fans watching Iggy Pop and members of New Order were so eager they jumped out of their chairs, running to the front of the stage to see the rock stars perform.

Pop joined Bernard Sumner, Phil Cunningham and Tom Chapman onstage on Tuesday at the 24th Annual Benefit Concert for Tibet House US, a non-profit organisation that preserves Tibetan culture. During Transmission and Love Will Tear Us Apart, fans — mostly older, but some teenagers — excitedly rushed from their seats to get closer to the stage.

Patti Smith closed the two-hour-plus concert in New York City with Pop, New Order, the National and others with People Have the Power. Smith also paid tribute to Lou Reed by singing Perfect Day.
