Moscow, -International Media Forum entitled “The new press era… Farewell to typical press” started its activities in Moscow on Monday with the participation of SANA and journalists from 30 countries.

The 2-day forum is organized by the official Russia Today international news agency on the occasion of the 75thanniversary of its foundation, previously known as Novosti.

Director General of the Russian official institution Dmitry Kiselev said at the opening ceremony that the US has tried, since September 2001, to monopolize for itself the right to lead the world according to what it draws, so, a number of states have been destroyed, like Iraq, and others eliminated like Libya, and the US wanted to repeat the scenario in Syria, but it failed.

SANA Director General Ahmad Dawa, for his part, said that the new media has helped create a remarkable change inside the press process and find competitors for journalists.

“During the terrorist war on Syria and the emergence of the new media that broadcast news and photos among the Syrian society’s circles, the Syrian journalists have faced big challenges to follow the huge quantity of news, videos and photos, but in the end, they exceeded this challenge and entered the war of offering the real information from its sources,” Dawa said.

He pointed out to targeting the Syrian journalists who work in the public institutions to prevent them from offering the objective information in addition to the rise of a big number of unknown websites that broadcast fabricated news..
