Damascus, SANA-Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus held on Sunday a ceremony in commemoration of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and his comrades’ martyrdom at al-Assad National Library in Damascus.

President Bashar Al-Assad was represented by Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Mohammad Samer al-Khalil and he said in a speech “Syria will not forget this inspiring man and exceptional leader who left great marks in all corners of the resistance.”.

Minister Al-Khalil stressed that Soleimani’s martyrdom came as a culmination of the principles for which he lived and worked and his belief in the issues of his homeland.

For his part, Iranian Ambassador in Damascus, Mehdi Sobhani, affirmed that the commemoration of the martyrdom of Soleimani is a revival of a school, thought and principle because his approach guides all the fighters who make the most precious efforts in order to achieve freedom, honor and independence for their countries.

Ambassador Sobhani referred to the great role of the martyr Soleimani and the resistance that he organized in thwarting the American and Zionist projects.
