Sharjah: H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, received a number of female diplomats from the United Arab Emirates at Al Badee Palace. The meeting was organised by the Department of Government Relations (DGR) in Sharjah to enrich cultural exchange, strengthen international diplomatic relations, and showcase the emirate’s experience in empowering women in society and building an influential and sustainable social and humanitarian system.
According to Emirates News Agency, during the meeting, H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi shared insights into her development journey that complements the government’s efforts in consolidating societal and family values. She discussed her experience in establishing girls’ clubs and institutions that promote social values within families and society, alongside charitable organisations with a focus on global benevolence. Her approach is rooted in a humanitarian vision that emphasizes providing a safe and dignified environment for women to contribute to societal advancement.
H.H. Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi stated, “In Sharjah, we did not wait for change; rather, we took the initiative to become its creators. We did not want culture to be merely a slogan, but rather a living practice seen in generations.” She emphasized the evolution of women’s spaces into an integrated government system of community institutions promoting empowerment and national identity. She highlighted the importance of nurturing the new generation to inspire independent thinking and knowledge pursuit.
Sheikha Jawaher also highlighted the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, in deepening culture as a unique identity for the emirate. His Highness has taken steps to document history through visual narratives, such as the film “Khorfakkan,” supervised directly to ensure accurate historical representation. This effort aims to provide future generations with a solid reference to learn from their ancestors’ experiences.
Ambassadors present at the meeting expressed appreciation for the opportunity to meet with H.H. Sheikha Jawaher, recognizing her as a model of community and humanitarian leadership. They valued the insights into Sharjah’s approach to building a cultural identity that is deeply embedded within the emirate and its society.
The meeting saw participation from notable personalities, including Sajida Shawwa, Head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA); Her Excellency Valentina Bernasconi, Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in the UAE; and ambassadors from various countries. Additionally, Sheikha Hind bint Majid Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Sharjah Business Women Council (SBWC), Sheikha Jawaher bint Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director General of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation, and other female directors of community institutions chaired by H.H. Sheikha Jawaher attended the meeting.
