Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hneifat and Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament Marcel Ciolacu met in Bucharest on Tuesday to discuss boosting agricultural product trade. During a Jordanian delegation’s visit to Romania for the second session of the Jordanian-Romanian Agricultural Committee meeting, Hneifat agreed with Ciolacu on granting the Jordanian agriculture minister five annual veterinary grants to build the capacities of veterinarians and agricultural engineers in Romanian institutes. The talks also covered Jordanian-Romanian ties in trade and means to address barriers in commercial partnerships. A plan was drawn up to make Jordan a hub for Romanian wheat, meat, and livestock exports to the Arab region, and for Romania to be a hub for Jordanian fertilizers and pesticides exports to Europe. A Romanian delegation will also make a visit to Jordan to oversee veterinary quarantine procedures and improve local information and experiences in this regard.
