JUDICIAL COUNCIL TO LOOK INTO ASSASSINATION OF PRESIDENT BASHIR GEMAYEL TOMORROW

The Judicial Council will meet on Tuesday, July 7, under the chairmanship of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Jean Fahd, to follow up on the investigations into the assassination of President Sheikh Bashir Gemayel and his colleagues on September 14, 1982.

He explained that the hearing will be devoted to defense counsel in this case, after the court stripped in the previous session the main accused, Habib Chertouni, of his civil rights, along with his accused partner, Nabil al-Alam, who was then an official in the Syrian Social Nationalist Party.

These pleadings are expected to speed up the verdict in this 35-year-old crime, in which 21 people were killed along with President Bashir Gemayel.
