Labor Minister, Mohammad Kabbara, and State Minister for Refugee Affairs, Mouein Merabi, held on Tuesday a joint press conference that aims at organizing Lebanon's labor market based on a set of measures that are currently being implemented.
"What brings us together with the Ministry of State for Refugee Affairs is a joint effort to address the current situation. I appeal to all municipalities to practice their role in assisting the Ministry of Labor. I also appeal to all institutions and companies to swiftly settle of the situation of their foreign employees," Kabbara said.
In turn, Merabi said: "The only solution to the crisis of displaced Syrians is to have the international community and the government assume their responsibilities."
Merabi also called on the private sector to consult with both ministries in order to provide employment opportunities for Lebanese and foreign workers, based on need and efficiency. He also stressed the importance of bolstering the national economy and local production, and to work with the international community to help open new markets for Lebanese products.
