Hours before Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut was due to receive the Gr8! Women Award for distinction in cinema (acting) in Dubai on Saturday night, she said that she’s yet to qualify for the adjective ‘Great’.
“I don’t think I am a great woman. There’s no greatness in what I have achieved so far… At best, I can be described as efficient and capable,” said Ranaut in an interview with tabloid!. “But it feels great to receive an award in Dubai because it’s an indication that people love your work outside your own country. There’s an international feel to it all.”
Ranaut, who was last seen as a shape-shifting alien in blockbuster Krrish 3, also met the media earlier in the afternoon to discuss her March 6 release Queen. Directed by Vikas Bahl, the comedy has already received positive feedback from industry insiders such as Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and director-producer Karan Johar.
“It’s a slice of life film about a girl who has self-acceptance issues and her own complexes. It’s her journey after she gets dumped. It’s a serious issue but explained in a humorous way,” said Ranaut, about her role.
Any scene she connected most with in the film?
“Getting dumped. Now which girl hasn’t got dumped in her life,” said Ranaut breaking into a laugh.
