Dubai: Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey can boast an Oscar for his role in American Beauty and Bollywood actress Vidya Balan won India’s prestigious National Award for her thriller Kahaani. So imagine if they put their heads together and brainstormed.
It looks like they might just do that.
Next month, the stars from two diverse film industries will headline a masterclass at the International Indian Film Academy Awards in Tampa Bay, Florida.
The annual, travelling, awards show, which is spread over three days beginning April 24, will see Spacey share his insights into his craft. According to the organisers, the masterclass will be a debate/panel discussion, exploring elements related to cinema from both worlds, discussing the surge of digital media as a platform for films and letting us in on their individual cinematic experiences.
“IFA has always been viewed as a platform to bridge the gap between the Indian film industry and the international audience. It has been our dream to be able to do this with the participation of Hollywood artists being featured within our events and this year as we debut in America we are proud to have achieved this with a masterclass that celebrates accomplished actors Kevin Spacey and Vidya Balan from the respective industries,” said Andre Timmins, director of IIFA organisers Wizcraft International, in a statement.
It’s Spacey’s first appearance at the IIFAs, which have seen Hollywood bigwigs such as Angelina Jolie and Hilary Swank attend.
Over the years, IIFAs have attracted some of the biggest stars from Bollywood. The weekend is filled with film-related activities, workshops and concludes with a glittering awards ceremony.
