Labour Minister, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, has participated in a high-level meeting devoted to supporting the implementation of the Palestinian Employment Strategy, organised here by the Arab Labour Organisation (ALO).

The meeting is within the framework of Arab and international efforts to support job creation and economic growth in the occupied Palestinian territories, in addition to implementing the resolutions of Arab labor conferences and their boards of directors, the latest of which was that of the 48th Arab Labour Conference in September 2022.

ALO Director-General, Fayez Fayez Ali Al Mutairi, International Labour Organisation (ILO) Director-General, Gilbert F. Houngbo, and several Arab labour ministers, in addition to Arab and international experts and specialists participated in the meeting, in person or virtually.

The meeting discussed the Palestinian labour issue in light of the widespread unemployment in the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as ways to support the rights of Palestinian workers and alleviate their suffering with material and moral support.

It also discussed the proposed programmes that would develop appropriate solutions to improve the standards of living and increase employment opportunities and the work environment in the State of Palestine.

On the occasion, the Labour Minister asserted that the kingdom’s participation in the meeting is in line with its support for joint Arab action, particularly regarding efforts to enhance the Palestinian economic growth.

On the sidelines of the event, Minister Humaidan held a meeting with ALO Director-General, with whom he discussed issues of mutual concern.

He also met his Arab counterparts and discussed with them ways to enhance cooperation among ALO Member States regarding the labour markets in Arab countries.
