Marketing cotton crop in Deir Ezzor province started

Deir Ezzor, Operations of marketing cotton for the current agricultural season started in Deir Ezzor province on Sunday.

 

Director of Deir Ezzor cotton ginnery, Eng. Farown al-Thalj told SANA in a statement that the ginnery started to receive the cotton from the farmers to be transported later from Deir Ezzor to the ginneries in Homs and Hama.

 

 

 

Eng. al-Thalj hailed that the standing cooperation between all bodies concerned with cotton, mainly the General Organization for Cotton Ginning and Marketing, Deir Ezzor farmers Union, Agricultural Bank, Agricultural associations, and the farmers in facilitating the marketing operation.

 

The area which is cultivated with cotton in Deir Ezzor reached 4,216 hectares.

 

Wheat is one of the most important strategic crops in Syria and the backbone for food security, as cotton comes in the second place after oil on the list of Syrian exports, while it comes first in the list of Syrian agricultural exports.
