The Maronite Bishops on Wednesday urged leaders and politicians to end their "side conflicts" and focus on working for the sake of the country and the people.
Following their periodic meeting in Bkerki under Patriarch Beshara Rahi's chairmanship, the convening Fathers expressed relief after the start of the government's executive work.
They also hailed President Michel Aoun's position regarding the Syrian and Palestinian refugee issues.
"The Fathers call for a political, diplomatic and logistic plan that would constitute the base of negotiations with the regional and international concerned sides, in order to secure a safe repatriation for the displaced Syrians," the Bishops said.
On civil marriage, the Fathers highlighted the necessity to "enlighten" the Lebanese people and to explain the religious marriage in both Islam and Christianity.
