Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Nohad Mashnouq, underlined on Wednesday that vacuum inside the constitutional institutions would be filled very soon, which, according to him, would give momentum to security agencies to assume their tasks.
The Minister made these remarks during his meeting with Australian Police Commissioner, Andrew Colvin, with whom he discussed the reverberations of the Syrian refugee crisis.
"This situation cannot last," Mashnouq said, deploring the reluctance of the international community in that respect.
For his part, Colvin expressed high admiration of the Lebanese security agencies' capacities.
He also called the Minister to bolster cooperation among the different security apparatuses between Lebanon and Australia, especially on the level of fighting terrorism and organized crimes.
