Minister of Interior and Municipalities Nuhad Mashnouk met on Tuesday at his ministerial office with Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Zasypkin, with talks reportedly touching on issues of mutual concern and means of bolstering cooperation in all spheres.
On emerging, Ambassador Zasypkin said that talks touched on an array of crucial issues and means of promoting Lebanese-Russian relations via the Interior Ministry.
There was emphasis during the meeting that the current security situation is sound, voicing the Lebanese authorities' capability of eradicating the manifestations of terrorism and criminality.
On the forthcoming parliamentary elections, the Russian Ambassador stressed the paramount importance of holding these elections, since as he said: "The most dangerous thing that can happen is vacuum."
On the other hand, Minister Mashnouq met with a delegation of the "American Task Force For Lebanon", led by Ambassador Edward Gabriel.
Speaking after the meeting, Ambassador Gabriel deemed today's meeting as "very fruitful" touching on the Syrian refugee crisis dossier and what the United States can practically assist in this regard.
