Dubai: First, the bad news: Kelly Rowland is set to perform in Dubai next week, but it will be at a private, invite-only function.
The good news: there’s a good chance you might still get to meet her.
Two years after her last performance in the emirate, the R&B songstress will be back to perform at the 2013 Dubai Airshow Gala Dinner at Atlantis, The Palm.
Though the November 19 dinner is exclusive to the Airshow’s VIP crowd, the four-time Grammy Award winner will be putting aside time to chat with her fans the day before at the Mall of the Emirates. True to Rowland’s down-to-earth character, the TW Steel brand ambassador is set to make an appearance at Hour Choice at 12.15pm on November 18, hosted by Rivoli group, for a customer event open to the public.
The evening after, Rowland will perform to an approximate 3,200 guests from the world of aviation and members of the press.
Anita Mehra, chairman of the Dubai Airshow Gala Dinner Committee, said in a press release today: “The Airshow Gala Dinner has featured some top international performers over the years such as Sir Tom Jones, Diana Ross, Lionel Richie and George Benson and we are delighted to be welcoming the award-winning Kelly Rowland to the event this year.”
Rowland, who rose to fame with girl group Destiny’s Child in the ’90s alongside Beyoncé and Michelle Williams, has expressed excitement over being able to take a break from her busy schedule as an X Factor judge to fly in for this event.
“I am really looking forward to performing again in Dubai. It’s a great city and I am proud to add my name to the list of performers who have had the honour of entertaining at the Gala dinner,” she said.
Joining her at the gala will be Grammy-winning acapella group Swingles and DJ Mitchell Niemeyer.
