Mikdad, Abdullahian discuss issues of mutual interest, latest developments

Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad discussed with the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hussein Amir Abdollahian, a number of issues of joint interest and latest developments.

During a telephone call, Minister Mikdad extended congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr to the Islamic Republic of Iran, its leadership and people, wishing them permanent prosperity, while Minister Abdullahian expressed his sincere gratitude for this grsture, wishing Syria, its people and leadership all the best and progress.

The two sides discussed issues of commemorating the International Quds Day in Syria, Iran and various countries of the world, and their countries’ full support for the resilience of the Palestinian people in the face of the criminal Israeli attacks on the Al-Aqsa Mosque, stressing the two countries’ firm stances towards the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights.

For his part, Minister Mikdad said that the strategic relations between Syria and Iran are always moving towards further development, stressing the need to activate economic cooperation between the two countries to confront the impacts of the illegitmate and inhuman coercive Western economic measures imposed on the peoples of the two countries.

In turn, Abdullahian described as deeply-rooted the relations between Syria and Iran, referring to the continuous endeavors to enhance cooperation between the two countries in all fields, reiterating his country’s support for Syria and its people and its readiness to provide everything possible to overcome the negative effects of unilateral coercive measures.
