Damascus,- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Faysal Mikdad, received on Thursday credentials of Christophe Martin, the new Chairman of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Syria.
Talks during the meeting dealt with means of boosting cooperation between Syria and ICRC and developing the strong and positive relation between the two sides through adopting mutual trust and continuous interaction around the activities carried out by the Committee in Syria.
Martin stressed that he is looking forward to working in Syria, particularly as the Committee’s delegation in Syria is the largest in the world, considering that this is evidence of the ICRC’s interest to seriously seek the achievement the humanitarian goals of the International Red Cross.
Mikdad, for his part, appreciated cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross and wished the new head of mission success in his duties, stressing the importance of continuous coordination and cooperation with the Syrian government to ensure the achievement of the hoped-for results of the work of the Committee and to increase the effectiveness of its presence in all Syrian regions.
