At President Abel Fattah El Sisi’s era, Egypt has been seeing an unprecedented, historic and cultural boom in different fields including youth and sports domains, said Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy.

Sobhy told MENA on Saturday 20/11/2021 that Egypt has witnessed further achievements in sports in accordance with the support, vision and non-stop directives of Sisi, given the fact that the country is a heavyweight locally and globally.

Investments in youth facilities reached EGP 16 billion in the recent three years, the Egyptian official went on to say.

Sobhy pointed out that Sisi had directed to establish Egypt International Olympic City, to be inaugurated soon as a modern Egyptian sports facility worldwide.

Egypt’s new republic will play host to the largest Arab, African and global sports events, for it has excellent infrastructure and great potentials, he noted.

The ministry is seeking to host different competitions as part of an annual international agenda, which would contribute to promoting sports tourism in the country, he said.

Egypt will host the Basketball World Cup as well for the first time in Africa, Sobhy added.
