Environment Minister, Fadi Jreissati, is partaking for three days in the 56th Global Environment Facility GEF meeting, which will be held at the World Bank headquarters in Washington.
The GEF programs will address developing countries and the new funding mechanisms for the coming years. The competence of developing countries, their potentials, and the needs to preserve the environment will be tackled.
The participation of the Minister of Environment comes in his capacity as Chairman of the Council of a Group of Countries currently headed by Lebanon, which includes Afghanistan, Pakistan, Jordan, Syria, Yemen, and Iraq. Jreissati is expected to hand over the presidency of the group to the State of Yemen.
