Caretaker Minister of Justice, Judge Henry Khoury, on Tuesday welcomed European Union Ambassador to Lebanon, Ralph Tarraf, with whom he discussed joint judicial cooperation projects between the Ministry of Justice and the European Union. ‘We’ve discussed the available possibilities and options to enhance the judiciary’s work in Lebanon; this is a common goal between the Ministry of Justice and us as a union, as we deem it a very important file,’ Tarraf said while refraining from disclosing its details at the present time. ‘We’ve also focused in our discussion on the reforms required by the International Monetary Fund within the monetary and tax sectors, without ignoring the need for the judicial system in Lebanon to support us; we are here to confirm this support within the available capabilities,’ Tarraf added. In turn, Minister Khoury expressed support to Tarraf’s stance, ‘especially since the discussion focused on the means to improve the judicial situation in Lebanon in cooperation with the European Union. There are several joint projects that we are currently working on.’
