Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, won the Shaikh Zayed Heritage Festival Cup in falconry competition, which was held at the racetrack in Bani Yas.
The falconry competition is organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council as part of the fourth edition of the Shaikh Zayed Heritage Festival in collaboration with the Emirates Falconers Club in Abu Dhabi.
Shaikh Mohammad’s falcons came first and succeeded in registering the best time in cutting the specified distance in the competition.
They clinched three places, including the top one, on the list of the 10 winners.
The five-day Shaikh Zayed Heritage Festival kicked off on Tuesday with camel and horse shows, falconry competition and displays of the Emirati folk art events.
The festival venue is the same one chosen by Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan 33 years ago as the UAE highlighted its rich heritage while embracing traditional performances from Kazakhstan, Georgia, Cuba and Japan.
Under the patronage of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the festival was inaugurated by Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
