Baghdad, The MP of Sadiqoon Bloc, Uday Awad warned of the repercussions of the drought crisis in Iraq, especially on Basra Governorate, due to the decline in water levels and the poor performance of the Ministry of Water Resources in dealing with the crisis.
He said in a statement reported by the bloc’s website: “This year will be the worst year that passes for Iraq and Basra in particular,” noting: “The Minister of Water Resources bears responsibility, since the level of the Tigris River in Maysan at this time is frightening, so how will the situation be in summer?”
Awad called on the Prime Minister to: “Immediately dismiss and replace this minister, follow up on the water situation in Iraq, build the Shatt al-Arab dam, and follow up on the water filtration plants in Basra, of which nothing has been accomplished .”
?
He added: “The people of Basra will have the final say in the event that the crisis continues without solutions being put in place.”
