New York, Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in New York strongly condemned US President Donald Trump's declaration on the occupied Syrian Golan, affirming that it is arbitrary and illegal.
The Coordinating Bureau, in a statement issued on Tuesday in New York, called upon the Security Council to shoulder its responsibilities and to condemn the US provocations clearly as they constitute a dangerous escalation and violation of the international law and the UN principles and goals and its relevant resolutions, particularly the Security Council's resolution no. 497 for the year 1981.
The Bureau referred to the Final Document of the 17th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Venezuela in 2016.
It indicated that the final document affirmed that all the measures which have been taken or will be taken by the Israeli occupation as an occupying power that aim at altering the legal and demographic status of the occupied Syrian Golan and its institutional status and the measures taken by the Israeli occupation to apply its authority and administration as null and void and without any legal effect.
The statement indicated that NAM heads of states and governments demanded that the Israeli occupation should abide by the Security Council's resolution no. 497 through the complete withdrawal from the occupied Syrian Golan to the line of Jun. 4th, 1967 in implementation of the Security Council's resolutions no. 242 and 338.
