Incursions by the Israeli occupation forces into Palestinian cities and towns, during which confrontations broke out leading to injuries, as well as detentions, and violence by settler terrorists against Palestinians, mainly schools near Ramallah, were highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today. ‘Injuries, arrests during a number of incursions and settlers attack two schools east of Ramallah,’ said the main front-page story headline in al-Ayyam daily. Al-Quds daily had more or less a similar headline. It said: ‘Injuries and settlers attack two schools east of Ramallah,’ while the third daily, al-Hayat al-Jadida also referred in its main front-page story headline to the settlers’ attack against the schools and the injuries during army raids of towns such as Sabastia and Yamoun and the detention of 10 people in the West Bank. Al-Hayat al-Jadida said President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in Egypt yesterday to attend the summit meeting with the Egyptian and Jordanian leaders. Al-Quds quoted a health official saying that between 50 to 100 cases of the Corona variant EG.5 were recorded in Palestine, while al-Ayyam quoted the Ministry of Health saying no definite cases of the variant were confirmed in Palestine and al-Hayat al-Jadida quoted a health official saying there is no need for panic and fear from the new variant. Al-Quds said a child lost his eye after he was hit by a rubber-coated metal bullet fired by Israeli soldiers in Kufr Qaddoum. It said the Sub Laban Palestinian family, recently kicked out of its Jerusalem’s Old City house, which was turned over to settlers, was ordered to pay an exorbitant amount of money for eviction costs, while al-Hayat al-Jadida said in a story the occupation authorities demolish homes of Palestinians and order their owners to pay costs for their evictions. Al-Ayyam highlighted the heatwave that hit Palestine over the past two days and said it will continue today as well. It said the Israeli foreign minister said his government will not allow Saudi Arabia to open a representative office in the areas under its occupation. Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the president and the prime minister sent their condolences to the minister of economy over the death of his wife.
