Palestinian Information Minister Nabil Abu Rudeineh lauded on Sunday a visit by head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service (GIS) Abbas Kamel to Palestine as ‘historic and important.’

Speaking to ON TV channel, Abu Rudeineh said the visit delivered clear messages from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas, the first of which is that Egypt is ready for working to support the Palestinian cause.

Abu Rudeineh, who is also the Palestinian presidential spokesman, noted that the president agreed on the Egyptian reconstruction initiative in the Gaza Strip for its great potentials and capabilities.

The two-state solution, ending the occupation, establishing a Palestinian state, ending the internal disputes, and reconstructing Gaza represent a joint policy for Palestine and Egypt.

He pointed out that the meeting discussed creating an atmosphere with the US side to continue the political process, stressing that the ceasefire is not enough.
