Petroleum min. asserts importance of unified African stance on just energy transformation

Petroleum Minister Tarek el-Mulla asserted the importance of coordination and cooperation with the African Union (AU), along with Egypt’s leadership of the energy file in Africa during COP 27.

In statements on Wednesday 27/7/2022 during bilateral talks with AU Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy Amani Abou-Zeid, the minister asserted the importance of declaring a unified African situation toward the issue of just transformation in the field of energy within the framework of a gradual timeline and working on providing the major and developing needs of African countries, with a view to contributing to achieving sustainable development. 

The talks took up the unified vision for energy transformation in Africa that will be presented in COP27 due in Sharm el-Sheikh, in November.

Meanwhile, the AU commissioner underscored the necessity of increasing cooperation between the African countries in the field of energy, due to its importance in achieving stability and development.

She pointed out to the importance of new and renewable energy, asserting the need for having a unified African strategy for energy transformation in Africa and supporting integration between African countries.
