Petroleum Minister meets IBM delegation

Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Tarek el Molla discussed with an IBM delegation cooperation in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the light of his ministry’s interest in AI and technology solutions.

During the meeting, held on the sidelines of the 2022 UN Climate Change Conference, COP27, Molla stressed the need to provide what the petroleum industry needs in all its aspects of solutions that keep pace with modern technologies.

In statements Saturday 12/11/2022, Molla underlined the need of having a unified system that contributes to achieving results, expediating performance, and providing data.

Commending the solid cooperation with IBM, the minister spotlighted the ongoing cooperation with IBM in implementing ERP and SAP programs.

IBM’s general manager Marwa Abbas, for her part, hailed the deeply-rooted relations with the Egyptian petroleum sector and the government, saying that they date back to 1954.

She also pointed out to the importance of the digital transformation project, which is implemented by the Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ministry.

The company is committed to providing distinguished solutions in analysing data, supporting efforts to reduce carbon footprint, and modernizing occupational health and safety systems.
