Planning Minister Hala el Saeid said on Tuesday that the world is facing major geopolitical and economic changes.

Such complicated challenges – in addition to the long-term effects of the Covid-19 disease – entail an international mobilization of adequate funds to be able to achieve sustainable development and enhance economic resilience, Saeid said in a recorded speech during the seventh edition of the Forum on Financing for Development, held in New York on April 25-28.

She pressed for action to counter financing challenges that hinder investments, a statement by the Ministry said.

Egypt effectively contributes to solving methodological issues concerning the financing of development, the minister made it clear.

Saeid added that Cairo is always acting to create innovative financing mechanisms, including the issuance of green bonds and Islamic sukuk.

Efforts are also being exerted to enhance partnerships between the public and private sectors through the Sovereign Fund of Egypt, she noted.
