Karak: Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Thursday looked first-hand at several public institutions and development projects in the Karak governorate as part of a series of field inspections, which come in implementation of royal directives.
The premier kicked off his visit by inaugurating the first phase of the Jinsheng International Trading Company construction project, a Chinese ceramics porcelain investment with a capital of $100 million, which is located on an area of 550 dunums along the desert road at the beginning of the Qatraneh area south of the Kingdom. The company will provide 250 job opportunities during the first phase and is projected to reach 750 job opportunities after the completion of the second and third phases by early 2024.
During the inauguration, Khasawneh stressed the government’s support for investment, creating a suitable investment environment, and working to enable existing investments to support the national economy, develop local communities and create job opportunities. He pointed to government measures to regulate the investment environment, most notably the new investment environment law, which facilitates procedures for investors and unifies investment references.
He also inspected the progress of work at the Lajjun water pumping station in the governorate and was briefed on its work and the services it provides to citizens, as well as water supply plans for the summer.
During his visit, he underscored the need to provide citizens with their water needs and address any complaints as quickly as possible, in addition to addressing the problems of water loss and water theft and improving the efficiency of networks and equipment used in the supply operations.
The prime minister also urged fast-tracking procedures for digging new water wells in Karak, finding other water sources, and reducing water waste.
Khasawneh was briefed on water projects in Karak, including a JD1.2 million project to improve the efficiency of Lajjun wells and increase their productivity and a JD22 million project to build networks and pipelines.
Minister of Water and Irrigation Muhammad Najjar explained that the procedures for reducing water loss in Karak have cut water losses from 70 percent to 52 percent, pointing to an operation to replace old water meters that would also contribute to these efforts.
During a visit to the Karak public hospital, Khasawneh stressed the need to provide the best treatment and health services to citizens, and address all obstacles and challenges hindering this goal.
