Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said Sunday that his government is willing to ease measures needed to establish digging and exploration projects in Egypt.

The government will act to quickly issue needed licenses and permits regarding investments in this field, Madbouli said during a meeting with Petroleum Minister Tareq el Molla.

Egypt, he added, has good infrastructure that could lure further investments in exploration projects, he noted.

The premier welcomed efforts exerted to push forward activities of the East Mediterranean gas forum, especially in light of the current global circumstances that have badly affected the energy sector.

Madbouli got reassured about the availability of the different oil products on the Egyptian market, especially with petroleum prices taking an upturn worldwide.

For his part, Petroleum Minister Molla praised support from the political leadership in Egypt for activities of the East Mediterranean gas forum.

He posted Madbouli on the outcome of talks he had held on the sidelines of the forum with senior EU and US officials concerned with the energy sector.

The meetings were meant to reach a cooperation agreement that would guarantee quick and optimal use of gas resources in the East Mediterranean region, as well as economic use of Egyptian infrastructure to transfer gas to European countries, Molla said.
