Khasawneh said work is underway to prepare a new draft law for partnership between the public and private sectors, because the current law does not achieve the desired goals and impedes the implementation of many projects and investment opportunities, stressing the importance of benefiting from the expertise of the Council and its members from the private sector in achieving a new draft law. The Prime Minister mentioned to the establishment of the Ministry of Investment to be concerned with all investment affairs and to complete all investor transactions in one place, pointing out that the government had intervened to deal with investments that are facing obstacles, including the Sixth Circle Towers project, where work on the project was resumed with no regard to economic feasibility considerations so that it would not be a title of failure at the gates of the capital, Amman. Khasawneh called on the Investment Council to hold periodic meetings according to a clear agenda and objectives, and to formulate an investment policy aligned with the existing legislative framework and pattern. The Investment Council was briefed by Investment Minister Kholoud Saqqaf on the instructions of the Ministry of Investment’s executive program and priorities in the current year. Saqqaf indicated that the ministry is preparing to launch an electronic platform that is currently being developed to help investors identify available investment opportunities, announcing that 23 investment opportunities in tourism, industrial and other sectors will be offered on the electronic platform soon. A discussion took place during which members of the Investment Council expressed their views on the legislative environment to attract investments, mechanisms for promoting investment and its priorities during the coming period, especially in transport, food security, tourism, logistics and pharmaceutical industries sectors.
