President al-Assad meets Sheikh Mohammad bin Zaid Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi

President Bashar al-Assad on Friday met his Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Zaid Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Commander-in-Cheif of the armed forces.

Sheikh Zayed, who received President al-Assad in al-Shatie palace (Qasr Al Shatie), considered that this visit comes in the framework of fraternal keeness and coordination between the two countries towards different issues, affirming that Syria is considered as a basic pillar of the Arab security, therefore, the UAE stance is firm in supporting Syria’s territorial integrity and stability.

Sheikh Zayed affirmed the need for the withdrawal of all foreign forces which exist illegitimately on the Syrian lands, expressing his country’s keeness on boosting cooperation with Syria in the domains that achieve aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.

President al-Assad, for his part, affirmed that the UAE is a country that plays a great role in light of the balanced policies it adopts towards international issues, adding that the world is changing and moving for a long time into a state of instability, therefore, to protect the region, ‘we must continue with adherence to our principles, the sovereignty of our countries, and the interests of our peoples.’

President Al-Assad and Sheikh bin Zayed discussed brotherly relations, cooperation and coordination between the two countries to achieve their mutual interests and contribute to the consolidation of security and stability in the region.

They also exchanged points of view and stances of the two countries towards all regional and international developments of common interest.
