-His Highness Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein, Chairman and Founder of Generations For Peace (GFP), on Wednesday met with Irish Minister of State at the Department of Justice and Equality with responsibility for Law Reform, James Browne. During the meeting, attended by Irish Ambassador to Jordan, Marianne Bolger, His Highness and Browne discussed issues related to youth and peacebuilding, pointing to the importance of maintaining joint cooperation and partnership between Irish Embassy and GFP. His Highness lauded Irish Embassy’s support for GFP’s efforts and programs aimed at raising Jordanian youth capabilities, addressing their key issues and providing a chance to express themselves, which would enhance community peace. For his part, Browne valued the “deep-rooted” Jordanian-Irish relations, which developed at various political, economic, cultural and educational levels, expressing aspiration to making further efforts to strengthen them. The minister also lauded the GFP’s partnership with the Irish Embassy, especially the recent cooperation that brought together GFP, Cinemagic in Belfast, and a group of young Jordanian and Syrian women and men to produce a film, dubbed: “Abeeiah,” which was supported by the Irish Embassy in Amman and Irish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The film won the Best Foreign Language Film award at the British Short Film Awards, and is currently being screened as part of the United Nations celebrations for International Women’s Day (IWD) across the world. The meeting also touched on issues related to youth, peace and security, GFP “distinguished” efforts and its “fruitful” cooperation with Irish Embassy in Amman, in addition to the issue of sport and its important role in providing opportunities for young people.
