The printed version of the 10th Volume of the multi-volume work ‘The Cyprus File’, has been released and is available to everyone interested, Cyprus’ House of Representatives announced on Friday.

It is noted that the ‘Cyprus File’ project is gradually implemented within the framework of the Cooperation Protocol for access to the material of the Hellenic Parliament’s Investigative Committee on the Cyprus File, signed by the parliaments of Cyprus and Greece in January 2016. The aforementioned Committee operated between 1986 and 1988, with the aim of research, collection and evaluation of information regarding the 1974 coup in Cyprus and the ensuing Turkish invasion.

The volume, it is added, which is already available on the website of the Parliament, includes the minutes of the meetings of the Committee held between November 19 and 26, 1986, with the testimonies of six Greek military officers, most of whom had served in Cyprus during the 1960’s and 1970’s.

‘This is valuable historical material’, the announcement said.

The Hellenic Parliament unanimously approved in July 2017, the delivery of material consisting of 139 files, to Cyprus’ House of Representatives.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. Repeated rounds of UN-led peace talks have so far failed to yield results. The latest round of negotiations, in July 2017 at the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana ended inconclusively.
