PSP RESPONDS TO LEBANESE DEMOCRATIC PARTY’S STATEMENT

The Progressive Socialist Party responded in a statement this morning to the Lebanese Democratic Party's claims that one of PSP's pro-activists had tried to storm the house of Minister Saleh al-Gharib.

"While Hisham Merhi was returning to his home without having any weapon, and while he was passing along the main road next to the residence of Minister Saleh al-Gharib, the security guards at the Minister's house opened fire at Merhi, causing him serious injury," the communique said.

The statement questioned whether "the mere passage of one of Bsatin's sons next to the house of Minister Saleh al-Gharib is to be considered an ambush or a blatant assault on a citizen by the Minister's guards of Lebanese and Syrian nationalities?"
