The Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and Minister of Labor Youssef Shamali said the public sector can only employ about 10,000 graduates from the large number of graduates annually, as the government depends on the private sector to employ as many as possible.

During the inauguration ceremony of the European Union-funded Operating Unit in the Industrial Sector, which was established by the Amman Chamber of Industry in cooperation with the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) and the Jordan Industry 4.0 and Digitalization Innovation Center, Shamali stressed that the government is aware of the needs and demands of the private sector, especially with regard to energy costs and high-interest rates, adding that the government’s approach focuses on true partnership with the private sector to benefit the national economy.

For his part, Team Leader of the GIZ’s Employment Project in Jordan Alexander Monden said that the unit provides more jobs, especially in light of the significant increase in unemployment rates in Jordan among youth and women, and the low rate of women’s participation in the labor market.

It is worthy to note that the operation unit in the industrial sector aims to provide qualified workers for factories and to link job seekers, after training them, with the available opportunities in small-, medium- and large-sized factories with the aim of benefiting employers and reducing the unemployment rate by creating decent and sustainable job opportunities.
