Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Bechara Boutros Rahi expressed concern over delaying the approval of a new electoral law, describing the fact as a twist for extending the parliament's mandate.
Rahi, whose words came during officiating over Sunday mass service in Bkirki, warned against dire consequences in case the parliamentary mandate was extended, urging politicians to decree a new electoral law soon.
The Cardinal called on all Lebanese officials to rise above their personal interests in a bid to ensure people's livelihood as well as economic and developmental needs.
He also prayed for the displaced people from Iraq, Palestine and Syria to return to their homeland.
Rahi hoped for a political solution to end the Syrian war and consolidate peace.
