RIACHY ADDRESSING BEIRUT, METN LF PARTISANS: NOTHING IS WORSE THAN VACUUM

The power of Christians is in no way directed against Muslims. It rather is a source of power for Muslims and Christians alike," said Information Minister Melhem Riachy.

"Nothing is worse than vacuum and we totally reject it," the minister added.

Riachy spoke at a meeting organized by the Students Department of the Lebanese Forces - Beirut and Metn districts. The meeting was held at the new municipality hall in Jdeideh, in the presence of member of the Change and Reform bloc, MP Ibrahim Kanaan, and ranking dignitaries.

"When you decide to be an LF partisan, it means you are with freedom against repression, with peace against surrender, with family against feudalism, with peace, courage, love, power and heroism against hypocrisy, lies and deceit," Riachy said, addressing LF supporters.

"The Lebanese Forces, in coordination with the Free Patriotic Movement, has (...) brought peace among Christians for the sake of peace in Lebanon. We have arranged our internal home and we are now stronger, regardless of what you hear of minor problems between the two sides. What matters is that, with this strategic reconciliation between the LF and the FPM, the glory of Lebanon is restored, and the Christians' true representation and political balance within the government are regained," Riachy went on.

"The strength of the Christian reality and the power of Christians are not directed against Muslims," the minister assured.

He also stressed that "the Ministry of Communication and Dialogue is a strategic project and all its decrees are ready. It is set to become a mediator between the citizen and the government, so as to achieve Lebanon's message. It will also be a place for internal or regional dialogues. Why is Geneva better than Beirut? Why should the Yemenis, the Syrians, or even the Iranians and the Saudis not choose to meet and conduct dialogue here in Lebanon?"

In response to a question, MP Kanaan said that "the Christian reconciliation has contributed to the election of a President of the Republic and the formation of a government."

He noted that a new electoral law that corrects Christian representation is to be reached before June 20.
