Dubai: Rotana, an Abu Dhabi-based hotel chain, said on Thursday it has opened its five-star Salalah Rotana Resort in Oman.
Located on Salalah Beach, the resort features 400 rooms and suites, the company said in a statement.
“Oman has always been a key growth market for us to expand into,” stated Omer Kaddouri, President and chief executive officer of Rotana.
The property is the first to be operated by Rotana in Oman and it is the 50th overall to be operated by the company. More openings are due by year end in Jordan, Bahrain and Doha, the company stated.
“Salalah Rotana Resort’s opening is in line with the Ministry’s strategy to strengthen Oman’s reputation as a luxury hospitality haven and will set new standards in hospitality,” Kaddouri added.
Rotana expects to operate 100 hotels by 2020. Its brands include Rotana Hotels and Resorts, Rayhaan, Arjaan, Centro and the Residences by Rotana.
Rotana maintained a good level of occupancy in 2013, with its properties in Dubai posting 83 per cent and Abu Dhabi 79 per cent. By the end of this year, occupancy is expected to increase by five per cent for Rotana’s Dubai hotels, but will, however, remain flat in Abu Dhabi.
