Russian aid distributed to needy families in Damascus countryside and Lattakia

Damascus countryside/Lattakia, -A new batch of Russian humanitarian aid was distributed Saturday to displaced families residing in Herjalleh town in Damascus countryside.

Representative of the Russian coordination center in Hmeimim Denis Romanov said the new batch of aid, which is delivered periodically by Russia, provides basic items for needy families living in temporary housing centers, stressing his country's keenness on restoring security and stability to Syria.

Head of Herjalleh town council AbdulRahman al-Khatib thanked the Russian government and people for their support for the Syrian army and people and efforts to ease the impact of the economic sanctions imposed on Syria.

The aid includes sugar, canned food and health baskets for children, in addition to two tons of flour, al-Khatib added.

In Lattakia, the Hmeimim-based Russian Coordination Center distributed food supplies in aid to families of martyrs and injured and kidnapped people in Sitmarkho village in the countryside of the province.

A representative from the Center said the aid included 250 food portions containing sugar, flour, rice and canned food.

He noted that Russia continues to provide humanitarian aid to the Syrian people in parallel with its continued military support to the Syrian Army and Armed Forces against terrorism.

The latest batch of Russian aid distributed in Lattakia included medical and medicinal materials that were delivered to Zahi Azraq Military Hospital on October 2nd.

Russian aid delivery has targeted many areas in several provinces across Syria.
