Ramallah: An Israeli colonist organization, which calls itself the Israeli National Acquaintance Project, has allocated $2 million dollars to bring Israelis to tour the West Bank colonies, according to the Israeli daily Haaretz.
It is expected that at least half a million Israeli tourists will be visiting the colonies. The colonists organization of ‘Mishkefet’ announced on Thursday that this plan is expected to attract the secular Israelis and show them blossoming colonies, the Jewish heritage and agricultural sites.
Yossi Dagan, one of the founders of the organization said “the big enemy to the Israeli colonies is ignorance. No one arrives in Judea and Samaria (West Bank), sees the colonies that are blossoming there and remains indifferent.”
A senior official from the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) strongly condemned the organization’s plans stressing that whatever the Israelis do will never legalize the status of the Israeli colonies in the West Bank, which are illegal and will remain so.
“Whatever they do and whatever plans the Israeli colonist implement, they have no right whatsoever in the West Bank. All colonies in the West Bank and Occupied East Jerusalem are illegal and the entire world acknowledges this,” the official said. The PNA official said that the Israeli claim that this ‘Mishkefet’ is a non-governmental organization is not true. “Such moves must have been coordinated with the Israeli Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Interior to obtain the necessary approvals,” he said.
