Sharjah Heritage Days concludes with 400,000 visitors over 21 days

The Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) concluded the 20th session of the Sharjah Heritage Days (SHD), which took place in various cities across Sharjah under the slogan "Heritage and Creativity". 42 Arab and foreign countries participated in the event, which ran from 1st to 21st March, 2023. Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH), and Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee for Sharjah Heritage Days, said, "SHD succeeded in fulfilling its promise towards heritage. The events astonished the audience with innovation and creativity and confirmed that heritage remains the true value that does not disappear with time. The twentieth session was marked by a remarkable turnout that inspires happiness and pushes us to seek further ways to preserve heritage and identity and link society to customs, traditions, and authentic values." He explained that it is crucial to encourage institutions, groups, organisations, and individuals in their performance because heritage is the spirit of life and the source of its perpetuation. He said heritage holds society together, combining tradition and modernity to keep pace with life's changes while preserving its constants and rules. l Musallam added, "Sharjah Heritage Days activities were distinguished by their creative diversity between cultural, intellectual and academic programmes, as well as games, competitions, folk arts, and performances by Emirati locals. The participation of government institutions, international organisations, and parties from inside and outside the UAE, as well as the accompanying events, contributed to making the Heritage area 'Heart of Sharjah' and other areas throughout the Emirate of Sharjah a favourite destination for families, children, and lovers of heritage, and an oasis for the mind, thought, and entertainment." The Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage thanked H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his support for the heritage and its people and his commitment to preserving popular heritage in the hearts of present and future generations.
