Minister of Government Communication, Faisal Shboul, chaired the periodic meeting of the follow-up team of Jordan Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Project. During the meeting held Thursday, at the Ministry of Government Communication, in the presence of its Secretary General, Zaid Nawaiseh, the team reviewed the study prepared by Jordan Media Institute (JMI) on the state of Jordan’s media and information literacy, in light of the National Plan to Disseminate Media and Information Literacy (2020-2023). Shboul also stressed importance of this study, which sums up national efforts in disseminating media literacy, adding that it will be an “essential” part of Jordanian content, which will be presented during UNESCO International Conference, titled “Global Media and Information Literacy Week and Youth Agenda,” scheduled to be hosted by Jordan from next October 23-25. Shboul highlighted necessity of disseminating a summary of the study to all participants in UNESCO conference, given its importance in building Jordan’s narrative on media and informational education, lauding JMI’s role in preparing the document. Shboul also noted the Ministry of Government Communication will build on all the study’s recommendations and proposals and prepare media messages based on their axes to be disseminated to the public and the media.
