Government Communication Minister Faisal Shboul said Monday he is “optimistic” about the outcomes of the 31st session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee, which concluded its activities Monday.
“We are very optimistic about the joint Jordanian-Egyptian Higher Committee session outcomes and what was agreed on. Memos of cooperation were signed in this regard, ” Shboul stated to the Middle East News Agency office in Amman director on the sidelines of the committee’s meetings.
He added that the joint Jordanian-Egyptian Higher Committee is a “model” in inter-Arab relations, noting, “The realism we are talking about looks at the capabilities of the two countries and what they can offer to each other and their Arab surroundings. This is the secret of the strength and success of relations between Jordan and Egypt at all levels.”
He explained that Committee discussions at the Council of Ministers HQ in Amman aimed at strengthening cooperation in sectors that have come a long and very successful way, overcoming obstacles and opening new horizons of cooperation for the two countries.
On Arab food security, Shboul considered that the bilateral framework between Jordan and Egypt is “important” through the exchange of experiences and projects, noting the Arab quartet framework on food security with the UAE and Bahrain.
He stated that the Committee meetings discussed the Arab pharmaceutical industry, especially between Egypt and Jordan, explaining that Jordan has a global pharmaceutical industry and there are Jordanian companies in several countries.
On regional issues, Shboul said Jordan and Egypt’s views on the Israeli occupation of Palestinian Territories “are similar.”
