Shorter, Hall meet Kahwaji: UK, American support to strengthening LAF capabilities to control land borders

In a press release by the British Embassy in Beirut, it said: "British Ambassador to Lebanon, Hugo Shorter, and United States Charge d'Affaires, Danny Hall, joined the Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces General, Jean Kahwaji, for a meeting today about the Land Border Security Project."

Press release added: "The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the on-going UK and US support for the LAF and the border project, including the construction, training, and equipment being provided in order to reach the goal of securing the entirety of the Lebanon-Syria border."

The press release concluded: "The United Kingdom and the United States officials expressed their steadfast support to Lebanon's stability, through strengthening the LAF's capacity and capability to manage and respond to internal security challenges, as well as the development of the Land Border Regiment's ability to control and secure the border from terrorist infiltration and the illicit trafficking of drugs and weapons."
