Sisi asserts importance of military cooperation with US

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi asserted the importance of military cooperation with the US in light of the strategic ties between the two countries which represent a milestone for maintaining the Middle East’s peace and security.

Sisi’s remarks came on Monday during his meeting with Commander of the Commander of US Central Command General Michael Kurilla in the presence of Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki, the head of the US military cooperation office, and political advisor to the commander of the US Central Command, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.

Kurilla stressed his keenness to make Egypt his first stop since assuming office, expressing the US full solidarity with Egypt in its efforts to fight terrorism which is the most dangerous challenge, faced by the region.

The US administration counts on the Egyptian effective and pivotal role in the Middle East and North Africa region out of President Sisi’s deep understanding of the regional situation and its challenges, Kurilla noted.

The US military official extended his condolences over the death of the Armed Forces personnel, who were killed in the recent Sinai terror attack.

The meeting tackled ways of boosting the defense and security cooperation between the two countries as well as cooperation in the fields of combating terrorism, joint training, and securing borders.
