KHARTOUM, Sudan's Foreign Ministry has welcomed the ceasefire agreement which came into effect recently in Syria.
The ministry, in a statement here Thursday, described the halt to fighting as an important step towards seeking a peaceful political solution to the Syrian crisis.
The statement also called on Syria's warring parties to go to the negotiation table to reach a comprehensive settlement to the crisis.
It said that Sudan welcomed the initiatives aimed at starting the negotiations in Kazakhstan based on the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the efforts being exerted by the UN Secretary-General's Envoy for Syria in this connection.
